BARNEY C. ALES received his undergraduate degree (B.A. Philosophy) from the University of Southern California (U.S.C.) in 1979 and received his Juris Doctor degree from U.S.C. in 1982. In 1983, he was admitted to the Bar in the State of Nevada; U.S. District Court, District of Nevada; U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit; and U.S. Tax Court. In 1992, he was designated as an Arbitrator for the Mandatory Arbitration Program for the Eighth Judicial District Court, Clark County, Nevada. He was admitted to the United States Supreme Court in 1995. He has conducted or defended, civil and criminal, bench and jury trials, in the following courts: Eighth Judicial District Court; U.S. District Court, District of Nevada; U.S. Bankruptcy Court; Justice Court of Las Vegas. He has briefed and argued appeals in the following courts, where many of his cases resulted in published opinions: Nevada Supreme Court; U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit; Bankruptcy Appellant Panel; and Bankruptcy Court of Appeals to the United States District Court, District of Nevada. He has represented clients before numerous administrative agencies and governmental bodies. After fifteen (15) years of experience in trial and appellate advocacy he joined the firm of Goold Patterson Ales & Day where he is the Litigation Director.
